Nice to meet you. My name is Tiffany Crosara, which apparently means “Epiphany from The Christian Faith”.
I am sure some Christians will be turning in their grave at the supposed irony of my name, as my calling, my living, my passion, my mission is to take people who wish to understand more about themselves through archetypal portals found within the Tarot. I say supposed — because really it’s not ironic at all.
The Tarot includes Biblical stories as well as Egyptian and Greek Mythology. It contains ancient Babylonian Astrology and Jewish Kabbalastic teachings. The Tarot links all faiths into one, and that’s the truth of the matter.
It’s not racist; it’s not religionist (if that’s even a word), it doesn’t separate, it doesn’t judge, it doesn’t care what you think of it, it doesn’t change itself to fit in.
No matter how much the Tarot has been wronged, exiled and judged over the centuries, it still remains totally impartial and free to be itself.
Why is that?
If you allow me, I will take you on a mini 3-step process found within the Tarot right now that will help you pinpoint what your unique actions are for you to achieve your dreams. No crystal balls or velvet tablecoths needed. In order to do this first we have to clear any fear of the Tarot, then the fear of your fear, followed by the fear of your life, and finally the fear of your dreams.
Are you up for it? Lets do this.
So where does the fear of the Tarot really come from?
The fear originally belongs to the church. The church’s fear was that people would find their own power through practices like Tarot, so they demonized it by giving it the nickname “The Devil’s Picturebook.”
However, it is “The Devil’s Picturebook” that contains all you need to wake up, face your fear and you will become free, trust me!
Here’s your 3-step process to freedom and manifesting your dreams.
1. Keep an open mind
If the devil comes up in a reading, it doesn’t mean you are evil, just that you are acting in an unconscious manner. And the good news is that along with the arrival of The Devil comes the opportunity to awaken (Lucifier means light bringer).
So really all it means is that you have been given the opportunity to awake from your slumber.
Whether you have a reading or not (and remember: no fancy tablecloths, headscarfs and big dangly earrings here), The Devil archetype will menace with your mentality in some area of your life until the pressure is turned up so much that the call for your attention is deafening — and the good news is, it’s easy to find before it gets to that level.
Just ask yourself the question: “What is it I most fear in my life right now?”
It is most likely to come down to the fear of lack of security somehow, due to your perception being that something outside of yourself creates your security. e.g. your job, your home, your relationship, etc.
For example, when I first became self-employed, my fear was “what if I can’t do this?” Then when I saw I could do it that fear shifted into, “Okay, but how long for?” Thirteen years down the line, The Devil says to me, “Okay you’ve managed it so far, but still you aren’t intelligent, knowledgable or competent enough to keep expanding.”
It doesn’t go away but as it shape shifts it helps me to shift my shape.
If I am brave enough to listen to what The Devil tells me (and know that it isn’t true) then he shows me exactly what it is I need to work on to gain my freedom.
So my first question to you is, what is The Devil on your shoulder telling you right now? And what one small action can you start right after reading this which will start to prove it wrong?
2. Honor any messages you receive
That one action you’ve just been awakened to is the equivalent of the lightning bolt in The Tower (the next card in the natural numerical order of The Tarot). Most people fear The Tower card so much that they subconsciously keep themselves stuck in the ignorance of The Devil.
This is why it’s really important for you to think of one action you can do to start proving your fear wrong and implement it now — before you fall back into your slumber again.
The quote I use for The Tower in my book The Transformational Truth of Tarot is:
“It is a great mystery that though the human heart longs for Truth, in which alone it finds liberation and delight, the first reaction of human beings to Truth is one of hostility and fear!” ~ Anthony De Mello
This is The Tower all over. That one act of standing up to The Devil is so fearful, yet once done The Tower gives you the strike of enlightenment through your crown. A lightening bolt of truth waking you up and moving you towards the creation of that which you have secretly longed for.
Maybe you moaned about being stuck in a dead end job and suddenly you are made redundant, or a relationship that suddenly ends.
That’s what happens if you stay asleep locked in the chains of your fears until they come rusty. That’s when your fears have used your imagination, rather than your will working with it.
We can catch the process before it gets there and be our own strike of enlightenment, but either way, The Tower is the beginning of the life you wanted IF you can align yourself to it, no matter how it presents itself. Creation is a destructive process – first of all you must clear the way.
The strike of enlightenment in The Tower is pictured as the thunderbolt crashing into The Tower, blowing it apart. This signifies the end of your security and along with it the end of your personal hell, your enslavement, your prison, the fearsome reign of The Devil.
So my second question for you is:
What is the one thing that you don’t want to let go of, yet you know you must if you want to start manifesting what you want your life?
Now it doesn’t have to be a big thing, I’m not saying you have to march in your bosses office now and tell him where to stick his monthly paycheck, or that you go home and declare to your partner that you wish to be free. Of course there are times that those courses of action may be appropriate, and at other times it’s a subtler shift of an attitude or a boundary.
3. Overcome your fears
The next card in the natural numerical order of this process is The Star.
Everyone loves cooing over the dream of The Star whilst seriously overlooking how scary it is to be launched into the stratosphere (the result of the strike of enlightenment/Tower).
This is the fear to overcome if you really want to wish upon that shooting star.
You won’t be able to get there if the lord of the underworld still has you in chains, you won’t be able to get there if the manmade Tower still has you incarcerated.
You have to make sure the restrictions of The Devil have been completely annihilated by the lightening strike of The Tower so you can be that free to catch your Star.
In reality, what usually happens when people first find themselves in The Star is complete overwhelm by the lack of structure in their lives (which went along The Devil and The Tower). So they run headfirst into the first situation that gives them security, thus blocking the opportunity to create their dreams via recreating the chains to The Devil.
As they revert they are blown back from The Star, back through The Tower and find themselves back in The Devil. This happens through things like taking any old job that comes along rather than following your wildest dreams, or getting back into a relationship because of the fear of going alone.
The secret is in knowing that you are able to create your own security and committing to finding out how.
So the third question is: How willing and able are you on a scale of 1–10 to go for your dreams?
(With 10 being totally feeling the fear and absolutely doing it anyway, and 0 being “I’m totally not doing anything in my life to work through my fears and create my dreams.”)
And what one thing can you do to prepare yourself to be launched into the stratosphere and catch your Star? (e.g. Commit to finding out how you can be your own security).
This could be looking into getting investment or sponsorship, or finding a safe place away from a place that is no longer safe for instance.
At the end of this blog you should be leaving with a 3-step plan of action.
The first is to break you free of your mental fears.
The second is to free yourself from the very thing that stands in your way (yet you hold on to).
The third is to support you in knowing you are your own security.
One word of warning:
Before you shut this Devil’s picture book and fall back to your slumber, get out your diary and plan in the actions you are going to take when.
Once that’s done, the chains of The Devil’s Picture Book will let you go.
